This has been an emotional journey through Africa. Zambia was a quick stop along the way. it did not disappoint in its beauty though.
We left Rwanda and flew to Lusaka Zambia where we spent about 4 hours at the airport waiting for our next flight to Livingstone. The climate is very different than Rwanda. It was very hot once we reached Zambia. Although very different Zambia is beautiful in a different way. The people are enchanting as well. We spent time talking to the locals and learning a bit about life in Zambia. What was interesting was their questions about Rwanda. They were curious about the landscape, the politics and the people.
The animals are the first I have seen outside of a zoo or circus or Disneyworld. It is truly amazing. We spent our day in Zambia exploring Victoria Falls and the game park right outside our lodge.
At every stop the staff has had a special birthday message for us. This lodge was quite a luxury. It had air conditioning and wifi on the premises. It also had a private plunge pool. We took an evening sunset boat ride on the Zambezi River and learned more about the wildlife in Africa. The guides we have met are amazing. I never realized just how dangerous hippos can be. Crocodiles, Hippos, and Rhinos were mainly what we saw in Zambia.
It is hard to describe the breathtaking beauty of Victoria Falls.
Great pictures!
