Botswana....Chobe Game Lodge

So writing a travel blog is challenging when you don't have access to the internet. I will catch up now that I have access. Botswana was our next country. Sue finally got to fly on her small plane. I was not so thrilled. What I can't argue with is that the small planes are an extremely efficient way of making your way to new areas quickly. Africa has mastered the art of allowing tourists to maximize their safari experiences. Chobe is also a beautiful park. On our drive in we saw the elephants up in the forest making their way down for a mid afternoon drink to cool off. Each of these parks is huge! The park we visited in Zimbabwe, Hwange National Park, is roughly the size of Maryland. Chobe is roughly the size of Connecticut. Chobe Game Lodge was much different than the bush camps we had been visiting. It is a hotel in the park essentially. We were back to air conditioning and a fixed structure. It was a good contrast to the Safari life we saw at Somalisa. The game drives were also quite different. As a travel agent I cannot imagine booking a client for a safari in Africa without seeing all of the options and understanding it all. What is not different between each place is that in each location we meet amazing people! Of course I learned how to say thank you! Ke a leboga Chobe Game Lodge!! It seems we also began the never ending 50th birthday celebration as well. If we had been here it might have been painful but somehow seeing traditional dances and songs in each country before a birthday song was amazing in each location so I won't complain. The wake up calls were earlier. Game drives began at 5:30 so the wake up calls were at 4:30. Chobe did have some amazing game right around the park. Chobe Game Lodge also is home to an all female guide team...the "Chobe Queens". Traveling also allows us to meet really neat people who share our love of travel! Chobe Game Lodge did not disappoint in that arena either. Sue and I began to make a great team...she was a great videographer and I got the hang of the photography!
